Issued by: SCOT Gemi Isletmeciligi AS
Date: 19 May 2025
We can confirm that on 17 May 2025, a localized fire occurred in the engine room of the MT SCOT STUTTGART while the vessel was securely moored at Puerto Nuevo Port, San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The vessel’s crew promptly responded in full accordance with established emergency procedures. The fire was suppressed using the vessel’s fixed CO₂ firefighting system, and the affected area was secured with the support of local emergency services.
We are pleased to confirm that there were no injuries reported, and no environmental pollution or overboard discharge occurred during the incident. The vessel’s emergency response systems functioned as designed, and the situation was effectively stabilized.
SCOT Tanker is cooperating fully with the United States Coast Guard, the vessel’s Flag Administration, and Classification Society as part of the ongoing investigation. While this process remains active, it would be premature to speculate on the specific root cause or final extent of any damage.
We remain committed to the safety of our crew, the protection of the marine environment, and open communication with all relevant stakeholders.
